This is going to be an intense and multifaceted herbal learning experience and will demand your time, attention, focus, physical strength and a passion for and dedication to herbal learning. You will need to be highly motivated, able to take direction and thrive with both academic as well as hands on learning.
We will meet weekly in the School House at Blessed Maine Herb Farm for a 5 hour Body Systems class. In addition, you will need to commit to working in the herb gardens, drying room and production kitchen a minimum of two days per week, 5 hours per day. This class requires you to be at the Blessed Maine Herb Farm three days per week – for a total of 15 hours per week/60 hours per month. You will need to set aside additional time for personal reading and study.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded at the end of the class upon successful completion, which includes attendance at all formal classes and a total of at least 300 hours logged. 80 of those hours will be formal class time, 220 will be working directly with the herbs as they demand, according to season.
Our formal classes meet on Tuesday’s 11 – 4 beginning May 23. Dates are May 23, 30, June 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, September 5, 12, October 3. The hands-on gardening/wildgathering/herb processing components of the class can be individually arranged according to each student’s personal schedule.
