Most modern paints are made with harsh chemical processes that prioritize speed and shelf life over health, sustainability, and soul. As herbalists, artists, and devoted earth-keepers, we felt called to offer another way.

Terra di Colori was born as a remedy.

These paints are made from true mineral pigments - soils and stones drawn directly from the earth, sustainably sourced from around the world and crafted using methods that echo those of ancient painters and iconographers. This is color as it has been known for millennia: elemental, luminous, and enduring.

Long before synthetic dyes and industrial fillers, artists worked with ground minerals, earths and water - materials that carried both beauty and permanence. Terra di Colori continues that lineage.

Each palette arrives in a timeless black metal folding tin and includes eight full pans of pure mineral pigment - no fillers or extenders, no petroleum-based synthetics and no heavy metals.

Terra di Colori is produced in small, intentional batches. Each palette requires time - time to ethically source the minerals, refine the pigments and bring them into balance so they perform beautifully and responsibly.

Because of this, quantities are limited. When a batch sells out, we wait until the process - and the materials - are ready again.

Using Terra di Colori

Terra di Colori responds beautifully to water, offering a smooth, grounded brush feel with remarkable opacity and glow. Activate each pan with a few drops of water and allow a brief moment for the pigment to bloom before painting; a slightly lower water ratio than conventional watercolors yields the richest color. These pigments reward patience and presence, unfolding depth gradually with each layer.

Care & Storage

Allow pans to dry fully between uses and close the palette when not in use. Store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged humidity or direct heat. As with all traditional mineral paints, natural variation and surface bloom are normal and do not affect performance or longevity.

Limited Batch Notice

This collection is part of Batch I · 2025, freshly prepared in small quantities. Once this batch is complete, these palettes will not be recreated exactly as they are - future batches will follow the same traditions while reflecting the natural variations of earth and mineral.

Materials & Process 

Binder: Mineral pigments are prepared with traditional casein binder; mica-based pigments are bound with gum Arabic to preserve their natural luminosity.
